In July of 2021, I was in Washington for the first time (other than possibly passing through an airport earlier). Along with my dad and my son, I arrived on a train trip from Durand, Michigan to Portland, Oregon on the Amtrak Empire Builder, which passes through the eastern and southern part of the state of Washington and overlooking the Columbia River and northern Oregon.

The train left Washington and stopped in Portland Oregon.

We returned to the state of Washington after driving north from Portland Oregon to the Seattle area.

We then flew home from Seattle-Tacoma airport.
